Dark Legends iPad Game Review

Dark Legends is an iOS MMORPG of sorts with vampires. It has both multiplayer and solo game play modes. The story line unfolds as you hop from one spot to the next along a game map. Some of the spots will reveal a bit more about the character and the enemies. Others will play a short animation, or reward you with gold coins after a countdown clock expires.

It is a Freemium game which means that it is Free to play for short bursts of time. If you are impatient to play more of it, then it will cost you real money at the in App purchases. Platinum is the premium currency for the game. If you want the most fearsome weapons and the most savagely revealing clothing that the game has to offer, you could end up dropping a pretty penny on building up your character, so be careful.

Not only can you use real money to buy weapons but there are some very unique armor sets in Dark Legends. There is the Dark Desire armor, which leaves nothing to the imagination. The bottom of the armor set, not shown in my screen shot, reveals the entire rear. I don’t recall seeing pasties being worn by a female avatar in a long time. The outfit is gratuitous. The breast physics are ludicrous. No one could fight properly wearing that. Even a vampire. Due to that and the behavior of people online playing it, I do not recommend this game for young girls or teens in general. It is crude, and not in a humorous way.

It is still a good time – even if you don’t spend anything on it at all. You can log in using an email address or a Facebook account. It does at least give you the choice which is good.

The quests unfold across a rudimentary map. Some are missions where you hack, slash and bespell enemies in a top down isometric environment. Some of the points on the map open to cut scenes. Others have short animations or text, where you are awarded a treasure after a time, a countdown clock runs out. Which can get boring.

Your avatar is on a quest for revenge. The plot includes vampire hunters, and zombies. After completing each mission you gain in more experience, gold, and more of the story. For the bloody street battles you will want to equip your vampire with some of the truely bad – ass looking axes and swords. You will get your anxiety out for sure by smashing down monsters with these weapons.

You can solo, or you can take advantage of the games MMORPG, aspect. The random chaos takes place all on one server where anyone on a mobile device can group up for additional blood splattering mayhem.

The gameplay, environments and missions are very repetitive. There is no difference from one level to the next. Items are not very interactive. A few things like flowerpots can be whacked to produce coins. A hand will appear in your action interface when you can purloin some more coin from a bookshelf. But those animations are very simple and old. Much more detail could have gone into making the game more entertaining. There are many clever opportunities that have just been left off.

Dark Legends is a fun amusement for a short time but doesn’t have much to offer. The game doesn’t have the depth to make it worth investing real money in a character. I give Dark Legends 6 vampire fangs out of 10.
